Munich, are they really bringing him back this time?.

 Bayern Munich is trying to speed up the recruitment of Joao Palinha (28, Fulham).


Palinha is a 190cm tall defensive midfielder who boasts destructive power in the midfield. He is strong in tackling and ball cutting, and also has accurate long passing ability.

Munich pursued the signing of Palinha in the transfer market last summer. Munich concluded negotiations with Fulham, and Palinha went directly to Munich to undergo a medical test. Palinha, who has completed the test, has finished filming the uniform, but no official announcement has been made.

Fulham tried to find a replacement by sending Palinha, but failed to recruit him and decided not to sell Palinha ahead of the transfer window closing. As a result, Palinha had to return to Fulham even though he was photographed wearing the Munich uniform.

Munich is trying to bring Palinha back in January. Multiple British media reported, “Munich will maintain interest in Palinha in the winter transfer market, and Palinha is also hoping to move to Munich.”

Recently, representatives from Munich went directly to England. Britain's '90min' reported on the 11th (Korean time), "Representatives from Munich headed to London, England. They visited Craven Cottage on the 10th and watched the 16th round of the 2023-24 English Premier League (EPL) between Fulham and West Ham in person,” it was reported.

As representatives confirmed Palinha's performance in person, expectations for his recruitment in January are rising.

The variable is the reinforcement of central defenders. Munich is currently considering recruiting a center back. The burden is increasing as the central defense is comprised of three players: Kim Min-jae, Dayot Upamecano, and Matejas de Ligt. Recently, criticism of the defense grew as the team lost 1-5 to Frankfurt.

The media said, “Munich is looking for a center back and Ronald Araujo (Barcelona) is on the list. “It is not easy to recruit a central defender and Palinha at the same time in the winter,” he said, signaling the need for a clear choice.
